METEOROLOGY at SUNY Brockport
The Meteorology major is intended to be a professional track to prepare students for a career as a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, governmental agencies, the military services, private meteorological and engineering firms, or for graduate study in the atmospheric sciences. The strong physical science orientation of the program prepares students to enter numerous related fields, including environmental science, hydrology, and wind and solar energy utilization. Designed to provide a sound basis for the student with strong aptitude and interest in mathematics and physical sciences as applied to the atmosphere, this plan of study may be oriented toward a special interest area by the appropriate choice of electives. Upper-level students with appropriate training and demonstrated ability are encouraged to participate in faculty research or work on their own research projects with appropriate faculty guidance.
